Tales & Tunes starring Sonya White comes to Skokie November 25
SKOKIE IL - The Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Avenue, presents “Tales and Tunes,” on Saturday, September 25 at 8:00 pm. The concert features a performance by acclaimed comic Sonya White with an opening set by Midwest troubadour Mark Dvorak.
“Sonya travels the country sharing her real-life experiences - and what a hilarious life she is living!” said event producer Myrna Petlicki.
White has toured nationally as part of the Southern Fried Chicks as well as performing solo in clubs and concerts. She has also appeared on television series and specials icluding “Star Search,” “The Last Comic Standing” and Comcast’s “Comedy Spotlight.”
“Sonya is a master of impersonations and sound effects,” said Petlicki. “Nobody can ‘horse around’ like her.”
White’s Dry Bar Comedy Special, “Boot It Up” was released in 2022. She also appears on Amazon Prime’s “The Comedy Buzz.”
Opening for White is folk singer songwriter Mark Dvorak. The Chicago Tribune called him “masterful” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival described him as “a living archive of song and style.” In 2012 WFMT “Midnight Special” host Rich Warren named Dvorak as “Chicago’s official troubadour.”
Dvorak has performed in almost all of the United States and has made visits to Finland, Ireland and Canada. To date he has recorded twenty albums of traditional and original music including 2020s acclaimed “Let Love Go On,” and 2023s “Live & Alone.”
