Loca Mocha Cafe, folk singer songwriter celebrate four years of Morning Coffee House September 23
BROOKFIELD IL - Loca Mocha Cafe, 8858 Burlington Avenue, welcomes Chicago’s official troubadour Mark Dvorak back to the Morning Coffee House series on Tuesday, September 23 at 10:00 am.
“I am so thrilled when Mark drops in each month music,” said Loca Mocha owner Maria. “Our morning music series has brought in a lot of new customers. His music is so beautiful."
"It’s really been fun,” said Dvorak, a Brookfield resident. "I’ve always enjoyed Loca Mocha, and Maria is simply a ray of sunshine. At this stage of the game, I feel like I’m doing my best work, and love playing a casual venue so close to home."
Brookfield has a long tradition of folk music venues. The Old Quarter Coffee House opened in 1981 at St. Barbara’s and then moved to a more permanent location in the Hollywood neighborhood. In 1987 the Plank Road Folk Music Society also began presenting concerts, workshops, potluck dinners and acoustic jam sessions at Sokol Hall, the historic train station and in Kiwanis Park.
The Chicago Tribune has called Dvorak “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “a living archive of song and style.” Dvorak has won awards for journalism and children’s music, and was honored in 2013 with the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International. In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2012 Rich Warren, long time host of The Midnight Special radio program named Dvorak “Chicago’s official troubadour.”
There is no admission charge to Morning Coffee House at Loca Mocha. Donations will be accepted and CDs and books will be available for purchase
