Galena Center for the Arts songwriter showcase presents Dvorak and Burns September 17
GALENA IL - The Galena Center for the Arts Songwriters Showcase will present “Chicago’s official troubadour” Mark Dvorak and Midwest singer songwriter TBurns on Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 pm. The event takes place in the Galena Center for the Arts Theater, 971 Gear Street.
The Chicago Tribune has called Dvorak “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “a living archive of song and style.” Dvorak has won awards for journalism and children’s music, and was honored in 2013 with the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International. In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2012 Rich Warren, long time host of The Midnight Special radio program named Dvorak “Chicago’s official troubadour.”
Thomas Burns has been performing throughout the Midwest for more than twenty years earning a reputation for his distinctive guitar style rooted in the rich traditions of American music.
“Our series was conceived to celebrate the creation and performance of original music," said music director Lennny Wayne Hosey, “ while at the same time the audience has an opportunity to hear the stories and inspiration behind the songs. We’re thrilled to have Mark and Thomas on our showcase stage,”
