Once I Had an Old Banjo

Folk singer Dvorak brings songs, stories & banjoes to Des Plaines March 25

DES PLAINES IL - The Des Plaines Public Library welcomes Chicago’s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak to its performance series on Sunday, March 25 at 2:00 pm. The library is located at 1501 Ellinwood Street, Des Plaines.

Dvorak will present “Once I Had an Old Banjo,” a program that explores the origin and evolution of the uniquely American instrument, the five-string banjo.

“The five-string banjo is truly an American instrument,” said Dvorak who will bring seven banjoes from his collection to the library. “It captures something about our past."

Dvorak is at work on his eighteenth recorded release, due out later this year, “Let Love Go On.”

“I’ve been rehearsing up material for an all banjo record,” said the singer. “I’ve had a lot of requests for it over the years, and it feels like the right time,” he said.

Admission to the program is free. Contact the library for more information at 847 376 2815, or visit their web site at www.dppl.org. To learn more about Mark Dvorak, visit his homepage at www.markdvorak.com.
