Music On a Mission at Helping Hand June 23
COUNTRYSIDE IL - Music & Potlucks, a 501(c)(3) community organization will partner with Helping Hand for a very special presentation, “Music On a Mission” on Thursday June 23 at 6:30 pm. The in-person open house and concert takes place in Helping Hand’s new event center, 9649 W. 55th Street. The event will also stream live on ZOOM. Proceeds will support Helping Hand’s programs and services.
Helping Hand is a a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities in Cook County and the greater Chicagoland community.
The evening begins at 6:30 pm with an open house reception and desert potluck. At 7:00 pm music performances by members of the Helping Hand community
At 7:30 pm Chicago’s official troubadour Mark Dvorak will perform a selection of folk sing alongs and original material.
“Mark has been our resident artist since the beginning,” said Music & Potlucks co-director Stephanie Schrodt of River Forest. “He has a special gift for connecting with audiences of all ages through music. we find a special affinity for his music and message.”
The Chicago Tribune has called Dvorak “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “a living archive of song and style.” He has recorded eighteen albums to date including 2020s Let Love Go On. Dvorak has won awards for journalism and children’s music, and was honored in 2013 with the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International. In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2012 Rich Warren, long time host of The Midnight Special radio program named Dvorak “Chicago’s official troubadour.”
Music & Potlucks has presented over seventy-five live and live stream events since 2017, and raised thousands of dollars to support area agencies who serve those in need.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Helping Hand on this event,” said Schrodt. The impact they’ve had on our community is immeasurable. We’re looking forward to a very successful evening.”
