Master folk and blues guitarist Mark Dvorak shares his very practical and down-to-earth approach to creating a solid guitar accompaniment, and comprehending the basics of improvisation.

Students will gain an understanding of the fret board by identifying partial chord shapes up the neck and learn the importance of chord tones. Several simple techniques will be demonstrated to help students develop a personal catalogue of styles and ideas. For level 2 guitar students or higher.

Dvorak has been on faculty at the Old Town School of Folk Music for more than twenty-five years, and thousands of music students have passed through his classes. He has helped many a beginner get through their first chords and strums, and has hosted a catalogue of master classes and workshops on a range of subjects from old time banjo picking to the legacy of the great Lead Belly, to just about every other topic related to the study of the American folk song.

Enrollment is $25. Phone 773 728 6000 or enroll online by clicking this link: https://www.oldtownschool.org/classes/detail/?courseid=5083.
