Young songwriters featured at Acoustic Neighbors March 20
RIVER FOREST IL - Music & Potlucks, a 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization, will present Acoustic Neighbors, an acoustic music live stream showcase on Sunday, March 20 at 4:00 pm CST.
The event will be cohosted by Jason McInnes of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Jess McIntosh of Chicago
McInnes brings over twenty years of experience in music education and is an accomplished performer. McIntosh is an active performer, an adept banjo player, guitarist and songwriter who specializes in connecting with your learners.
The March 20 Acoustic Neighbors Showcase will feature youth performances by members of F.A.W.M, February Album Writing Month, celebrating the release of their FAWM compilation recording.
“The goal is simple,” said McInnes. “We encourage our members to challenge themselves to write a new song every other day for the shortest month of the year. At FAWM we don’t wait for inspiration, we just show up and start making music. The songs created by these musicians offer a very wide variety in instrumentation, genre, topic and tone.”
“FAWM members can post lyrics or demos as soon as their finished to our web site,” said McIntosh. "Our members collaborate with others and get ideas through social media. It’s month-long mayhem, but it’s so exciting to see and hear the results of our song writers. The important aspect of what FAWM musicians all share in common is their songs come from the heart.”
Currently FAWM has almost 3,000 members ages 10 to 16 from across the United States and from around the world.
The Oak Park River Forest area based Music & Potlucks has presented over seventy live and live stream events since March of 2017 and has raised thousands of dollars for area food pantries, homeless shelters and other charities.
“Bringing community musicians together for the purpose of supporting our neighbors in need is at the core of our mission,” said Dvorak, who has worked with Music & Potlucks, since it’s inception in 2017. "We come from different parts of the Midwest and different parts of the country but we are fortunately connected through music and the spoken word arts.”
