Acoustic Neighbors Live Stream Showcase returns July 26
RIVER FOREST IL - Music & Potlucks, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization will present the 27th edition of “Acoustic Neighbors,” the monthly community music showcase on Wednesday, July 26 at 7:00 pm central time.
The event spotlights Chicago singer songwriter and activist Patty Peace, Lansing Michgan’s poet, author, educator & spoken word artist Ruelaine Stokes, C.T. Thieme from Grayslake who is the son of folk legend Art Thieme & carries forward his dad’s legacy & local acoustic favorites The Tell featuring Bill Ryan, Stephanie Schrodt, Betsy Sweeny Backes and Jean Bacom.
"Acoustic Neighbors is now in its third year,” said folk singer songwriter Mark Dvorak, who hosts the program.
“We began presenting our friends live stream during the dark days of the pandemic. We wanted to create an ongoing event to connect with our neighbors across the country and keep the Music & Potlucks’ mission on track. We missed listening to each other. We missed the music."
The Oak Park River Forest area based Music & Potlucks has presented more than 120 live and live stream events since March of 2017 and has raised thousands of dollars for agencies who serve those need: Helping Hand, Share Food Share Love Food Pantry, Housing Forward, Beyond Hunger Food Pantry, the West Suburban Community Pantry, the Frank Hamilton School, the Old Town School of Folk Music Employee Support Fund and many others.
