Songs From the Attic is an intimate acoustic performance drawn from Dvorak's musical reflection of over thirty years on the road and in the classroom performing, teaching and writing songs.

“I’ve been able to make a living,” said the singer who is at work on his eighteenth CD release. “Right away I learned that the music I was drawn to and the music I loved, always came from people and their experiences. Those experiences gave me direction and nourished me over the years. I was lucky enough to have some very amazing artists’ work flow into my life as a young man. While learning to wrap my head and my heart around this music, I was also lucky enough to have bumped into some very generous and interesting people. It’s always been about the songs.”

“Mark is a legend at the Old Town School of Folk Music,” said Mikki Greenburg, music director at Wishbone North. “His songwriting is incredible, and over the holiday break, we wanted to get the ‘Dvorak magic’ back in our Bourbon Street performance space."

Dvorak has performed in thirty-eight states and in parts of Europe and Canada and has won awards for journalism and children’s music. In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International in 2013. Dvorak has also been on the faculty of Chicago’s venerable Old Town School of Folk Music since 1986.

“At this stage of the game, I feel like I’m doing my best work,” said Dvorak. "I’m planning on getting the new recording out this autumn and I’m very excited about it. I’ve got some new material coming along, and I’m including a bunch of different things I like to do before a live audience.”

Wishbone North is Lakeview’s home for Southern reconstruction cooking, and presents live music each Thursday through Sunday in their Bourbon Street listening room.

There is no cover charge but donations to the artist are welcome. For more information, contact Wishbone North at 773 549 2663 or visit online at www.wishbonenorth.com
