Chicago’s “official troubadour” performs in Lake Odessa January 22
LAKE ODESSA MI - Bob’s Barn Jamboree, 1417 Johnson Street, welcomes singer songwriter and recording artist Mark Dvorak back for an acoustic appearance and recording session on Sunday, January 22. The doors open at 2:00 pm and all ages are welcome.
“Mark is one of our favorites,” said Bob Warner, who presents and records the Jamboree each Sunday. “He doesn’t come back to our part of Michigan very often, but we’re glad when he does.”
Dvorak will be collaborating with singer Michelle Billingsley, who grew up in nearby Lowell. Billingsley then at a student at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, enrolled in one of Dvorak’s classes and later joined the chorus of his tribute concert to legendary folk icon Pete Seeger, “The Power of Song.”
“Michelle is a very natural talent,” said Dvorak. “We’re looking forward to singing together at Bob’s. Bob and Linda have so much going on in their beautiful music space. It’s always fun to be part of the Jamboree."
Dvorak has performed in thirty-eight states and in parts of Europe and Canada. He has released seventeen albums and has won awards for journalism and children’s music. In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International in 2013.
“He’s the real deal,” said Bau Graves, Executive Director of the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. ”Mark has made music his life and livelihood. His performances are elegant, rich and powerful. He is one of the Old Town School’s Distinguished Teaching Artists."
