Music & Potlucks live stream event to support Roseland Hospital December 15
RIVER FOREST IL - Music & Potlucks, a community organization, will present a live stream “Soup Cookoff, Concert & Folk Showcase" on Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 pm central time. The event will take place on the ZOOM platform and feature music by Chicago”s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak, the Randomosity recording duo Ashley & Simpson and the Caudell Family Band.
“We’ve had an active year despite the pandemic,” said Stephanie Schrodt, co-director of Music & Potlucks. “We’ve had to get creative with our music programming, but we’re finding ways to make impact.”
Music & Potlucks is beginning its fifth year of presenting music and other cultural events to support service agencies in the near western suburbs and Chicago.
In 2020 the organization has helped deliver more than 2,000 pounds of food to area food pantries and recently raised over $1,500 in support of Bed-Plus in La Grange, Illinois.
Co-director Liz Ziehl of River Forest has been active soliciting donations, clothing and toys for the children living at Roseland Community Hospital on Chicago’s south side.
"There’s an urgent need at Roseland,” said Ziehl. Our beloved community has donated three carloads full of pajamas, sweat pants, hoodies, underwear, socks and toiletries. We’ve gathered countless games, arts and craft supplies, toys and hand puppets for therapy.”
"We’ve also delivered four air purifiers and a tablet so those at Roseand can communicate with loved ones,” she said. "What was an empty room with children captive in it, is now a captivating room for the children within."
The December 15 event will feature a live stream concert with Dvorak and sets by Ashley & Simpson and the Caudell Family Band.
“We hope families will gather, make a pot of soup and enjoy the music, ” said Schrodt.
"100% of what we collect will go to support Roseland, We of course can’t fill the need or fix the situation, but we’re planning to help out as best we can.”
