Ludington State Park Presenter Series to feature Chicago folk singer songwriter Mark Dvorak on July 14
LUDINGTON MI - The Ludington State Park Presenter Series has returned to live in-person programming for the 2021 season. “The American Folk Song,” presented by Chicago’s Mark Dvorak will take place at the socially spaced Ludington State Park Beach House patio, 8800 W. M-116. The event takes place at 7:00 pm EDT.
“Last February the Friends of Ludington State Park decided to try and go ahead with our series again this year,” said Alan Wernette, Park Interpreter for Ludington State Park. “Our entire 2020 schedule had to be shut down of course, due to the pandemic. But we’ve reallocated our resources for the 2021 season. I’m happy to report we able to reschedule almost every presenter.”
“At this stage of the game,” said Dvorak, “I feel like I’m doing my best work. Like every other musician, I’ve had some time on my hands.”
“I decided to go back through my notes and notebooks to see what was in there, and what I might be able to come up with. I’ve been writing and recording for the last six months, and attending to projects I didn’t have time to dig into before the pandemic.”
As a result Dvorak is planning to release a new CD and a collection of essays. His 19th CD Live & Alone is set of live material recorded in an empty concert hall for a 98.7 fm WFMT broadcast. He is also busy at work on a collection of essays, "31 Winters.” Both projects are due out later this year.
Dvorak has performed in thirty-eight states and in parts of Europe and Canada. He has won awards for journalism and children’s music. In 2013 he received the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International and in 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2012 The Midnight Special radio program host Rich Warren named him “Chicago’s official troubadour."
