Soup cookoff concert & folk showcase


Music & Potlucks live stream event to support Roseland Hospital December 15

RIVER FOREST IL - Music & Potlucks, a community organization, will present a live stream “Soup Cookoff, Concert & Folk Showcase" on Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 pm central time. The event will take place on the ZOOM platform and feature music by Chicago”s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak, the Randomosity recording duo Ashley & Simpson and the Caudell Family Band. 

“We’ve had an active year despite the pandemic,” said Stephanie Schrodt, co-director of Music & Potlucks. “We’ve had to get creative with our music programming, but we’re finding ways to make impact.”

Two Way Street Coffee House 50th anniversary livestream concert series features Chicago’s troubadour November 27

DOWNERS GROVE IL - The Two Way Street Coffee House, 1047 Curtiss Street, will present Chicago troubadour Mark Dvorak in a live stream virtual concert from the coffee house on Friday, November 27 at 8:00 pm central time. Because of pandemic restrictions, the performance is not open to the public.

“November begins a five-week celebration of the Two Way Street’s 50th anniversary,” said Joel Simpson, co-director of the historic folk and acoustic venue. “Due to the pandemic we of course had to change our plans for the gala concert and afternoon programming at the First Congregational Church.”

An afternoon with folk artist Mark Dvorak November 14

DOWNERS GROVE IL - The Plank Road Folk Music Society will present “An Afternoon with Mark Dvorak” on Saturday, November 14 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm central time. The ZOOM virtual event is part of the society’s thirty-fifth annual celebration.

Dvorak, who has been on faculty at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music since 1986, will present a combination workshop and concert during the two-hour virtual program. 

“Mark has been part of the Plank Road since its beginning,” said Bob O’Hanlon. “He’s an outstanding singer, instructor and musician, and we couldn’t think of celebrating our thirty-fifth anniversary without including him in our program.”
