1st annual Lloyd Loar’s Hometown Bluegrass Festival takes place in Lewistown IL August 18

FULTON COUNTY IL - The 1st annual Lloyd Loar’s Hometown Bluegrass Festival takes place at the Dickson Mounds Museum, 10956 N. Dickson Mounds Road, Lewistown, on Saturday, August 18 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The event takes place rain or shine will feature live music by hammered dulcimer master Bill Robinson & Friends, Chicago’s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak, the Orpheus Mandolin Orchestra and singer songwriter Amelia Sweet Bluebird. Bill Robinson will present a workshop at 10:30 am and there is an open-mic scheduled for 11:45 am.

Thursday Night Out features folk artists and sing along August 16

OAK PARK IL - The streets of downtown Oak Park will ring with the sounds of acoustic music on Thursday, August 16 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. Music & Potlucks, a community organization based in the Oak Park River Forest area, is partnering with Downtown Oak Park to present three concerts for the popular Thursday Night Out series which runs from May 24 through August 30.

“We go on rain or shine,” said Shannon Williams, Downtown Oak Park Executive Director. “Thursday Night Out is Oak Park’s popular dine-around series that features a free concert each week and great local food, beer and wine available for purchase.”

GLENVIEW IL - The Glenview Public Library welcomes Chicago’s “official troubadour Mark Dvorak for an evening of folk songs and protest music recalling the turbulent 1960s. The program, "Sounds of the 60s: Folk Songs and Protest Music” takes place at the Glenview Public Library, 1930 Glenview Road, on Tuesday, July 24 at 7:00 pm.

SCHAUMBURG IL - The Village of Schaumburg will feature the music of “Chicago’s official troubadour” and Old Town School of Folk Music teaching artist Mark Dvorak at the "Ye Olde Schaumburg Centre Farmer’s Market” on Friday, July 13 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The award-winning farmer’s market takes place in the parking lot in front of the Trickster Gallery, 190 N. Roselle Road. 

“Our farmer’s market features locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats, flowers, plants and gourmet cheeses sold by the farmers who produce them,” said Martha Dooley, Sustainability Planner for the Village of Schaumburg. …
