CD release concert in South Haven March 21 - a labor of love for Chicago folk artist Dvorak

SOUTH HAVEN MI -When singer songwriter Mark Dvorak began his career in music, he knew right away he was in it for the long haul. Thirty-two years later he is still writing, on the road performing and recording.

Let Love Go On is Dvorak’s eighteenth recorded release and represents a creative milestone. He produced, arranged, engineered, mixed and mastered the entire project. Further, he wrote seven of the songs, played all of the instruments and sang all of the parts.

Foundry Hall for the Arts welcomes Dvorak back to its concert series for a CD release show on Saturday, March 21, at 7:00 pm. The event takes place at the South Haven Center for the Arts, 600 Phoenix Street.

“At this stage of the game,” said the singer, “I feel like I’m doing my best work.”

The Chicago Tribune has called Dvorak, “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “a living archive of song and style.” He has won awards for journalism, children’s music, and was honored in 2013 with the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International. In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2012 Rich Warren, host of The Midnight Special, named Dvorak “Chicago’s official troubadour.”

“Mark has been on the road for a lot of years it seems,” said Lotte Resek, Foundry Hall director. "He’s a masterful musician and an essential figure on the Midwest folk music scene. Community music is more important than ever nowadays and we’re really excited that Mark is coming back to South Haven.”
